Company Overview
Miniature Market, one of the world’s premier retailers for tabletop and board games, faced a mission-critical challenge: migrating a massive, complex ecosystem from legacy Magento 1 to Shopware 6 without disrupting their global community of players. Discover how Patchworks provided the integration backbone to make it possible.
The Challenge: Moving a “Legendary” Data Load
For over 20 years, Miniature Market has been a cornerstone of the gaming community. However, their legacy Magento 1 store had become a bottleneck. To support international growth and a deep product catalogue, they needed a modern foundation.
The stakes were high. This wasn’t just a website refresh; it was a total digital transformation involving:
- Massive Data Volumes: Migrating two decades of product, customer, and order data.
- Complex Logic: Managing pre-orders, loyalty points, and specific gaming-industry workflows.
- System Fragmentation: Connecting a high-performance ERP (Deposco) with a new frontend and multiple third-party tools.
The Solution: A Connected Ecosystem Powered by Patchworks
To ensure business continuity during the migration, Miniature Market and their solution partner, solution25, required an integration layer that could handle high-velocity data without manual intervention.
Patchworks iPaaS was selected as the central orchestrator to bridge the gap between their sophisticated warehouse management and their new Shopware 6 storefront.
1. Seamless ERP Synchronisation (Deposco + Shopware)
The heart of the project was the integration between Deposco ERP and
Shopware. Using the Patchworks platform, Miniature Market automated the flow of inventory, orders, and shipping data. This ensured that whether a customer was pre-ordering a new Warhammer release or buying an in-stock board game, the stock levels remained 100% accurate across all systems.
2. Safeguarding the Migration
Migrating from Magento 1 is notoriously difficult. Patchworks acted as the “safety net,” ensuring that as data moved into the new Shopware environment, the connection to the back-office remained stable. This allowed the team to complete one of the most complex migrations ever executed for a Shopware store.
3. Automating the “Gamer Experience”
Miniature Market relies on specific user flows, such as price alerts and pre-order notifications. By connecting the tech stack through Patchworks, the brand could ensure that data from Klaviyo (Marketing) and Zendesk
(Support) stayed in sync with the core ecommerce engine, providing a unified view of the customer.
The Results: Leveling Up for the 21st Anniversary
The project went live in September 2025, coinciding with Miniature Market’s 21st anniversary. The result was a high-performance, scalable platform ready for the global stage.
- Zero Downtime Migration: Successful transfer of products, customers, gift cards, and loyalty points.
- Operational Efficiency: Manual data entry was eliminated through Patchworks’ automated workflows between Shopware and Deposco.
- Global Scalability: The platform now handles heavy international traffic and high order volumes with ease.
- Future-Proofed Tech Stack: With Patchworks at the centre, Miniature Market can now “plug and play” new technologies as they grow.
“Miniature Market’s user flow is so specific…The rule builder saves a lot of time, plus you don’t need code, which makes life a lot easier for the client.“
